HiEmployment to Host a Downtown Honolulu Blood Drive in Conjunction with Blood Bank of Hawaii

Honolulu – hi-employment.com - HiEmployment, one of the 50 fastest growing companies in Hawaii, will sponsor a blood drive on Monday, January 30th from 8:00am to 12:00pm. The blood drive will be held at the Topa Financial Center, Fort Street Tower in Conference Rooms 301 and 302.

During the blood drive, light refreshments will be provided to all participants. To donate blood, you must be in good health, be 18 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and have a valid photo ID with your birth date on it. Call the Blood Bank’s hotline, 808-848-4770 to sign up for a donation time.

Just one hour of someone’s time can save three lives... so donors truly are heroes. Statistics reveal that while only 2% of people donate blood, more than half of the population will have a critical need for donated blood at some point in their lives!

"You never know when you or someone you love may need an additional blood supply," stated Knox, who still donates whenever he can. The Hawaii Group Announces New Corporate Controller - Liana Murphy Joins the Top 50 Company

Honolulu – TheHawaiiGroup.com - The Hawaii Group, one of the top 50 companies in Hawaii, announced that Liana Murphy joins the growing company as Corporate Controller. Liana will also serve as Director of Client Services for subsidiary company HiAccounting.

A Certified Public Accountant (WA), Liana has 10 years’ experience in management of tax and accounting services. Liana has a BA from the University of Washington-Tacoma in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Liana comes to HiAccounting from the prestigious firm Moss Adams, where she was most recently a tax manager.

In her tenure in both public and private accounting she has specialized in working with high networth individuals and mid-sized businesses in various industries including manufacturing and distribution, construction, real estate, professional services and health care. Her mission is to provide value by understanding her clients’ business and developing close relationships within the community. Liana comes to Hawaii from Tacoma, Washington, most recently with Concrete Technology Corporation.

Scott Meichtry Named Chairman and CEO of The Hawaii Group

The Hawaii Group (HiGroup) today announced that Scott Meichtry has been named chairman and chief executive officer.

Meichtry, who co-founded the company in 2009 and currently serves as its executive vice president, succeeds Matt Delaney, who stepped down from the position for personal reasons.

“The Hawaii Group team remains committed to providing our clients with the highest level of service,” said Meichtry. “This transition will ensure our 110 team members will continue to focus on meeting our clients’ needs and that, for The Hawaii Group, it is business as usual.”

Meichtry has 23 years of business ownership and human resources management experience in Hawaii and on the mainland, particularly in the areas of internal operations and client relations. Prior to moving to Hawaii, he formed Meichtry Enterprises LLC, a Colorado-based holding company focused on both commercial and residential real estate development. Demonstrating his passion for entrepreneurship, he also started a business in the construction industry, which incorporated several successful businesses including an excavation company, a concrete company, a construction firm, a flat work company, a landscaping business and a human resource outsourcing business.

The Hawaii Group and Hawaii Human Resources Acquire New Companies and Expand to the Island of Hawai'i

Following its 2009 launch and five years of steady growth thereafter, Hawaii Human Resources (HiHR) and The Hawaii Group (HiGroup) continue to expand their reach, serving an ever-widening geographical area and offering a broad range of professional services to employers across the state. With the recent acquisition of HRBenefix's Hawaii Operations and Kiria Payroll Services on March 31, 2014, HiHR now will have a solid presence on the Big Island, serving all areas from Kona to Waimea to Hilo.

HiHR's purchase of HRBenefix's Hawaii Operations and Kiria Payroll Services' assets adds 51 new clients to HiHR's's already impressive roster. With 725 employees located on the Big Island, Maui, and Oahu, and an estimated $20 million annual payroll, these acquisitions represent a significant step towards HiHR establishing a strong presence on the Big Island.

Based in Kailua-Kona, longtime local businessmen Larry Marr and Jesus Menendez launched HRBenefix and Kiria Payroll Services in 2011. Both Marr and Menendez will continue working with HiHR, along with the internal staff members who will stay on under the new HiHR ownership and name. HiHR's Big Island team will remain focused on maintaining strong client relations while continuing to grow HiHR's Big Island client base.

As many of HRBenefix's clients currently operate with employees on the ground in California, Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, and Wisconsin, Marr and Menendez will also work on enhancing and expanding PEO and payroll services on the mainland from their Colorado and Pennsylvania offices.

The Hawaii Group Sponsors Island Jazz Nights Benefit Concert

The Hawaii Group is proud to sponsor Island Jazz Nights with Grammy Award winning Pauline Wilson & Music Magic on April 4-5, 2014 at the Pagoda Hotel International Ballroom. Both shows will begin at 8:00 p.m. with proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Hawaii.

Pauline Wilson became Hawaii's first Grammy Award winning vocalist in 1980. She received a Grammy Award for her duet “Friends” with George Benson on the "In Harmony" album. She and her band performed in various clubs in Waikiki also fronting concerts for bands like Tower of Power, Deodato, War, Herbie Mann, and Cold Blood and were a mainstay for the acclaimed “Sunset Festivals” concert series held every year until in 1976, they moved to Los Angeles and changed their group name to "Seawind". They performed throughout the world and recorded five albums together.

Hawaii Human Resources, Inc. Marks Its Fifth Year Anniversary with Big Celebration at Newly Expanded Office Space

Hawaii Human Resources, Inc. (HiHR) celebrates five years of unprecedented success in the Hawaii business community. Establishing its human resources administration company in 2009, HiHR has seen tremendous growth in recent years with an ever-increasing client roster and a rapidly expanding team of service professionals.

The Hawaii Group Moves Forward with Bold Expansion in the Topa Financial Center in Downtown Honolulu

Proving more formidable than ever, The Hawaii Group has again commenced aggressive renovations at its expanded location. With a newly signed lease on an additional space adjoining its existing ground floor offices, the company announces that it is following through on its stated commitment to sustainable growth and improved capacity to service its clients. As part of the substantial renovations underway, the company plans to connect the two suites, effectively converting the space into one substantial office that will occupy the majority of the mauka wing of the ground floor of the Fort Street Tower in the Topa Financial Center.

Located at 745 Fort Street in downtown Honolulu, the Topa Financial Center welcomes the new expansion, where The Hawaii Group first joined on as a new tenant back in July 2013. Combining Suites 116 and 124 creates a new office space that will house The Hawaii Group’s rapidly growing divisions.

The Hawaii Group Expands to Maui and Mainland

Regina Maka‘ika‘i Igarashi Joins The Hawaii Group

Former Miss Aloha Hula and cancer survivor Gina Igarashi will become the executive assistant to Matthew S. Delaney, Chairman of The Hawaii Group (The HiGroup), marking yet another new hire in the expanding family of local companies. Igarashi brings 18 years of experience to her new position. Most recently, she served as the private secretary to the deputy superintendent at the Department of Education after working for three years as the executive assistant to the President and CEO of the Hawaii Superferry, Inc.

But her noteworthy skills were not the only reason Delaney wanted her to join the team. “I interviewed half a dozen very capable and qualified candidates, and I kept coming back to Gina,” said Delaney, who has endured cancer as well. “I feel a bond with her and appreciate that we are able to talk about our past battles with cancer in an effort to educate people about early detection and prevention.”
